Rows of Sand Molds in Jujuy Foundry Bay

Crisp high-altitude light cuts through heavy overcast skies in a welding bay near San Salvador de Jujuy, illuminating rows of sand casting molds arranged in perfect symmetry. The coarse, gray-brown texture of the packed sand contrasts with the smooth, dark metal surfaces of the surrounding industrial equipment. Deep shadows pool between the orderly lines of rectangular pits, showing the precision of the arrangement. Dust hangs suspended in the air, settling on the rough edges of the molds. The late afternoon sun filters weakly through the clouds, casting a flat, even glow across the floor. One layer of fine grit rests on the rim of the nearest mold, marking the boundary between the prepared pit and the raw material waiting to be poured.
