Soft gray light diffuses across the flat, rain-slicked surface of the water along the Brescia causeway. A four-person rowing shell cuts a narrow wake through the drizzle, its dark hull reflecting the overcast sky. Four oars dip in unison, churning the surface into frothy white trails that vanish quickly in the calm. The athletes wear matching dark gear, their movements synchronized against the open, wind-swept horizon. Mist hangs low, blurring the distant shoreline and creating a seamless blend between water and sky. The low angle emphasizes the length of the boat and the rhythmic tension in the riggers. Wet paint on the shell gleams faintly, catching the dull noon glare.
