Grey morning light falls through steady rain, illuminating a rower mid-stroke on a village lane near Kota. The athlete's hands grip the oar handles, twisting the blade to a feathered position as the recovery phase concludes. Water droplets rest on the dark wood of the oar and the wet fabric of the uniform. Mud splatters the lower hem of the clothing. The background blurs into soft greens and browns of the seasonal transition, with rain streaks cutting diagonally across the frame. A low angle view emphasizes the tension in the rower's shoulders against the overcast sky. at the edge is one drop of water sliding from the tip of the oar blade toward the muddy ground.
