Kayaker Riding Mountain River Wave at Dawn

Pale morning light breaks over the horizon haze, casting a soft glow on the low-hanging clouds that rest just above the water. A kayaker in bright orange gear balances atop a standing wave formed by the swift current of a mountain river. The water churns white where it crashes against the riverbed, against the deep teal of the calmer pool downstream. Rocky banks lined with green vegetation rise steeply on either side, framing the narrow channel. The low camera angle emphasizes the height of the wave and the isolation of the paddler against the vast, misty backdrop of the switchback approach near Pokhara. one drop of water rests on the tip of the kayak's bow, trembling in the stillness.
