Romanian Hillside Villages in Green Fog
by Brandy Rich
Late afternoon light falls through a canopy of leaves, casting dappled patterns across a steep hillside. Below, terraced villages rest on the slope, their dark roofs forming a jagged silhouette against the bright, storm-washed plain. A thick layer of green fog rests on the valley floor, obscuring the base of the hills while dust particles hang suspended in the air, catching the low sun. The early autumn air turns the tree line a mix of lingering green and fading gold. Small stone structures nestle into the terraces, their shapes softened by the haze. The contrast between the sharp, sunlit edges of the roofs and the diffuse, glowing fog creates a stark boundary between the solid earth and the ethereal mist. One beam of light pierces the green gloom, illuminating a patch of dry grass on the lowest terrace.
