Frost Covered Hillside Villages in Autumn Fog
by Sarah Bender
Honeyed evening light spills across a storm-bright plain near Purnia, illuminating terraced hillside villages nestled in thick green fog. The steep slopes rise in stepped layers, each terrace capped with a delicate layer of white frost that catches the low sun. Autumn colors linger in patches of brown and ochre among the cooling greenery, against the sharp, crystalline texture of the ice. The villages appear as clusters of small, earth-toned structures clinging to the ridges, their roofs dusted with the same frost. Shadows stretch long and soft across the terraces, showing the rugged topography. A faint mist rests on the valley floor, separating the illuminated hills from the darker plain below. The frost glistens on the edge of a stone wall in the foreground.
