River Stones at Predawn Field Station Sink Mauritania

Deep red illumination washes a stainless steel sink resting on a weathered wooden table. Smooth river stones, gray and brown, fill the basin, their wet surfaces reflecting the crimson glow. Humid air hangs visible as a faint haze around the dark edges of the room. Outside the open doorway, the predawn sky remains a flat, dark charcoal, hinting at the cool season air. Converging lines of the room's wooden beams guide toward the distant, unlit horizon. One stone near the drain edge shows a sharp, white mineral vein contrasting against the deep red shadows.
