Ripped Payphone Sydney Underpass Blue Hour in outside a metro entrance in Sydney

Ripped Payphone Sydney Underpass Blue Hour

by Hailey Frazier

Heavy overcast skies press low against the concrete arch of a Sydney metro entrance. A weathered green payphone, torn from its wall mounting, hangs precariously by a single twisted cable near the underpass. Headlights from passing traffic cut through the blue hour darkness, reflecting off the wet asphalt and the phone's peeling paint. Winter dampness coats the metal surfaces in a fine sheen. The structure stands isolated against the shadowed tunnel mouth, where the glow of distant streetlamps mixes with the cool, gray tones of the overcast evening. A jagged patch of exposed brickwork marks the spot where the fixture once stood.
