The still hours before dawn cast a deep blue hue over the Sydney waterfront, where the ferry ramp and piling system stand exposed at low tide. Concrete pilings, scarred by years of salt and marine growth, rise from the receding water, their surfaces slick with moisture. The metal ramp extends into the dark harbor, reflecting the faint ambient light from distant streetlamps. No boats are docked, leaving the industrial infrastructure bare and quiet.
