Red Tail Light Trails Through Missouri Fog in through low marine fog in Missouri

Red Tail Light Trails Through Missouri Fog

by Pearl Nicholson

Streaks of red and white light stretch across a wet Missouri roadway during early autumn. Thick marine fog drifts low over the asphalt, softening distant trees under bright midmorning light. Steady rain coats the road surface, creating a dark, slick sheen that reflects the glowing vehicle trails. Layers of depth recede as the light lines fade into the dense white haze. Raindrops rest on the foreground, blurring the view slightly while the continuous red streaks suggest motion against the stillness of the fog. At the edge of the frame, a sharp, elongated red line of a taillight ends abruptly where the fog becomes too thick to see through.
