Bright midsummer sunlight floods the dry mountain air, casting sharp shadows across the rugged terrain beside a tidal survey transect near Baqubah. In the foreground, a metal stairwell stands stark against the clear sky, its industrial surfaces gleaming under the harsh sun. Dim red night bulbs mounted along the railing glow with a soft, localized warmth that contrasts with the intense daylight.
