Deep crimson light from overhead bulbs floods a stainless steel observatory deck beside a tidal survey transect near Jeddah. Digital displays on white instruments show readable data against the dark metal surface. A sweeping beam of white light from a lighthouse cuts across the equipment, highlighting dust particles and the texture of the steel casing. Salt wind pushes visibly across exposed sensors, creating a slight distortion in the air near the edges. The dry season leaves the metal surfaces cool and clear of moisture. Transect markers fade into the background darkness. A thin line of condensation forms on the plastic edge of a data logger reflecting the red glow.
