Rain on Drawbridge Gears Beside Uyo Pier

Flat noon light reflects off the river, illuminating a dense cluster of heavy steel gears and hydraulic pistons housed in an open-air machinery room beside a concrete pier. Steady rain falls, coating the oxidized metal surfaces in a slick, dark sheen that mirrors the gray sky. Thick layers of black grease smear across the rotating cogs and chain drives, against the pale, wet concrete of the surrounding floor. Water drips continuously from the rusted roof edges, pooling around the heavy machinery base. The low angle emphasizes the towering scale of the mechanical assembly against the moving river below, while droplets blur the foreground air. A final beam of light catches a single droplet clinging to the edge of a massive, stationary tooth.
