Railway Shed Near Blast Furnace at Dawn

by Lorenzo Huber

Rain slicks the corrugated metal roof of a converted railway engine shed, its glass panels glowing softly against the gray sky. Mist rests on the heavy steel framework near a towering blast furnace in Tribeca, New York. The early summer drizzle coats the industrial surfaces in a uniform sheen, reflecting the muted dawn light. Rust streaks run down the iron beams, against the clean lines of the glass sections. Droplets gather on the glass edges, hanging in place before sliding down the angled panes. The heavy steel structure dominates the left third of the view, while the distant furnace looms on the right, partially obscured by the fog. A puddle in the foreground mirrors the dark silhouette of the shed's roofline.
