Purple Sheen Crow Feather Macro Zagreb Monsoon
by Holly Chan
Hard coastal glare cuts through heavy overcast skies, illuminating a single crow feather viewed from behind. The shaft displays a metallic oil-sheen that shifts from deep violet to electric purple where the light strikes directly. Water droplets rest on the barbs, heavy from the monsoon rain, each one reflecting the gray sky above. The feather lies against a blurred background of wet moss and dark earth near Zagreb, its texture appearing stiff and waterproof. Tiny imperfections in the plumage catch the harsh light, creating sharp highlights against the matte black base. The color saturation peaks at the tip, fading into shadow as the structure curves away. One raindrop rests precariously on the edge of the vane, threatening to slide down the slope.
