A cluster of potted herbs sits on a narrow concrete ledge in a Taipei apartment balcony during the cool early morning. Water droplets rest on the serrated edges of the basil leaves, reflecting the soft, diffused light of the overcast sky. The green foliage contrasts with the grey weathered concrete and the faint rust stains on the metal railing nearby. One drop hangs precariously from the tip of a leaf, ready to fall onto the soil below.
