A stainless steel drying rack stands on a narrow concrete balcony ledge, its wire grid catching the harsh glow of a nearby streetlamp. Potted geraniums with deep green leaves and faded red blooms cluster in the shadowed corner behind the metal structure. The warm yellow sodium light reflects off the curved rims of stacked ceramic soup bowls resting on the lower shelf. One droplet of water rests on the edge of the nearest bowl, refracting the city lights into a tiny prism.
