Polo Rider Leaning Backhand at Riverside Landing
by Jayden Reed
Bright noon light flattens the shadows across a dusty riverside landing in Denizli, illuminating a polo rider mid-action. The athlete leans sharply from the saddle, extending a mallet for a nearside backhand stroke. Sun-bleached leather straps contrast with the rider's vibrant blue jersey, while the white ball hangs suspended in the air just ahead of the polished wooden head. Behind the rider, the brown earth of the track meets the shimmering, pale blue water of the river. Late spring grasses fringe the bank, turning golden under the harsh glare. The horse's muscles ripple beneath the saddle, captured in a moment of intense physical exertion against the calm, wide expanse of the water. A dust cloud rises softly from the hoof that has just lifted from the ground.
