Pipe Yard Cribbing Blocks Under Tower Crane in Winter

Rows of heavy steel pipes rest on wooden cribbing blocks that stretch toward a trench dug by a mini excavator. Harsh, clear light from a high winter sun flattens the dust on the ground. The sky above the tower crane shows signs of a clearing storm, with breaks in the clouds revealing patches of blue. Diameter marks painted in white and red stand out against the dark metal. Sling tags dangle from the rigging, swaying slightly in the dry air. The trench cuts a sharp line through the earth, bordered by loose soil and gravel. Wooden blocks show wear from repeated use, their edges softened by time. A final detail is the shadow of the crane boom falling across the nearest pipe, marking the exact angle of the late afternoon sun.
