Hoist Call Station Under Crane in Dawn Light

Pale, cold dawn light washes over wet concrete where a metal hoist call station stands beneath the towering lattice of a construction crane. Two work lamps remain switched on, casting harsh, artificial beams that cut through the mist and wind whipping loose dust across the gray ground. The heavy steel box shows signs of fatigue with scuffed paint and grease stains resting on its surface. A thick cable snakes from the unit into the damp earth, its insulation worn and cracked. Wind bends the fine spray of rain droplets against the metal frame. A small puddle near the base reflects the blue sky and the orange glow of the unfinished bulbs. The flat gray landscape stretches out under the midnight sun conditions.
