A macro view reveals the intricate geometry of a pinecone cut in half, exposing rows of hexagonal seed chambers and woody scales. The wood grain runs in tight, concentric rings, displaying shades of amber and pale tan against the rougher texture of the cut edge. Behind the specimen, a wall painted in weathered turquoise shows chips of flaking paint where the underlying plaster peeks through. Broad skylight floods the space, bouncing off pale interior walls to create soft, even illumination. Polished surfaces on the pinecone scales catch tiny, sharp highlights, showing the smoothness of the resin against the matte finish of the dried wood. A small fragment of green moss rests on the lower left corner of the cut surface.
