Lagos Feather Quill Cross Section Macro

Soft, diffuse afternoon light fills the room, bouncing off pale interior walls to illuminate a precise cross-section of a bird feather quill. The white, porous interior of the hollow stem rests against a rough patch of green and grey lichen growing on dark bark. Tiny, translucent barbs extend from the cut edge, catching the warm glow of the indirect light. The shallow depth of field blurs the textured lichen background into soft, organic shapes while keeping the microscopic structure of the quill in sharp relief. Fine details of the cellular matrix are visible, revealing the biological complexity within the hollow tube. One, tiny fragment of bark dust lies at the base of the cut stem.
