Macro Feather Vane Barbs Splitting Detail

One feather vane dominates the frame, its central rachis splitting into delicate, translucent barbs that fan outward in perfect symmetry. Early summer window light strikes from the side, illuminating the microscopic hooks and grooves along each barbule. The texture appears almost glass-like, with subtle iridescence shifting between soft gray and pale amber tones. Behind the feather, the rough, fibrous interior of a split seed pod provides a contrasting earthy backdrop, its tan fibers blurred slightly out of focus. Shadows fall sharply across the feather's surface, defining the three-dimensional depth of the structure. The finest tips of the barbs catch the light, creating tiny, jewel-like highlights against the darker interior of the pod.
