Peeling Paint Layers Revealed on Woven Linen

Bright midmorning light bounces off pale walls to illuminate a textured surface where paint has peeled away in distinct flakes. Five older color layers stack beneath the top coat, displaying faded blues, ochres, and creams that tell a history of repainting. The paint rests directly against coarse woven linen fibers, their tight grid pattern visible in sharp relief. Soft shadows gather in the crevices between the flaking material and the fabric, adding depth to the composition. The background remains crisp while the immediate foreground blurs slightly, drawing focus to the rough, brittle edges of the dried pigment. One jagged edge of blue paint catches the light, highlighting the rough texture against the smooth weave.
