Pearlescent Seashell Whorls on Linen in Noon Light

Flat noon light pours from a north-facing window, striking the curved ridges of a seashell with unyielding brightness. The shell rests on coarse, woven linen fibers that stretch across the frame in a tight crop. Iridescent layers within the shell's surface shift from soft cream to pale violet where the light grazes the spirals. Tiny, sharp highlights dance along the raised whorls, defining their three-dimensional depth against the matte, textured cloth. The linen's rough weave contrasts with the smooth, polished curves of the marine object. One dark crevice in the shell's lower right edge holds a minute shadow, at the base of the floating highlights in tangible form.
