Pallas Cat in Rainy Crevice Near Guanajuato

by Soren Randolph

Soft gray clouds blanket the sky above a rocky inlet where damp stones glisten under the pre-dawn light. A Pallas's cat with thick, grizzled fur peeks from a narrow crevice between jagged rocks. Its round face and wide amber eyes remain fixed forward, blending into the weathered gray and brown textures of the stone. Rain-slicked surfaces reflect the muted overcast light, while the wet ground shows small puddles gathering near the inlet's edge. The animal's dense coat absorbs the cool air, and its ears sit low against the heavy cloud cover. one drop of water rests on the tip of a dry, brittle branch hanging just above the cat's head. The wet rock face curves sharply around the animal's shoulder, framing its cautious gaze against the darkening water below.
