Nova Scotia Bajada Slope Valley Floor Autumn in across a wide valley floor in Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia Bajada Slope Valley Floor Autumn

by Wayne Mejia

Soft overcast light washes over a wide valley floor where a bajada slope of merged alluvial fans rises against the range front. The ground texture shifts from loose gravel at the base to compacted sediment higher up, creating a stepped, fan-like profile. Early autumn colors tint the sparse vegetation with muted golds and browns along the slope's edge. Wind whips low grasses and loose debris across the valley floor, blurring the foreground slightly. The sky remains a uniform pale gray, diffusing shadows and flattening the depth of the distant hills. A cluster of wind-swept shrubs rests on the lower slope, their stems bending sharply in the direction of the gale.
