Moss Curtains in Yunnan Rainforest First Light

by Amelia Lowe

Thick emerald moss drapes in heavy curtains from ancient branches, filling the frame with textured green velvet. Low-angle perspective places gnarled roots and damp earth in the immediate foreground, leading the eye upward into the dense canopy. Soft, diffused light falls through a layer of pale fog that rests on the ferns and tree trunks. The dry season keeps the forest floor clear of standing water, revealing dark, moist soil and scattered fallen leaves. Pale gray mist weaves between the vertical lines of the trees, softening the distant background into a wash of muted tones. One branch extends into the lower left corner, its surface rough and coated in a fine layer of lichen.
