Mosaic Artist Sets Tessera in Dry Season Light

Indigo twilight washes over a workspace near Ludhiana, where frost clings to every exposed surface. A mosaic artist works low to the ground, their hands pressing small colored glass pieces into wet plaster. The cold air has left a fine white crust on the worker's shoulders and the tools scattered nearby. Deep blue shadows stretch across the floor, against the warm, earthy tones of the clay and glass fragments. Dust motes are frozen in the still air, settling on the rough texture of the drying mixture. The artist's fingers press a blue tile firmly into the white bed, creating a sharp edge against the frosty background.
