Mirrored Candles in Duhok Chapel Stained Glass

by Eddie Benitez

Pale walls reflect soft, indirect light that fills the chapel interior. Rows of mirrored prayer candles stand in perfect symmetrical alignment, their surfaces catching and scattering the colored glow from nearby stained glass windows. Dust particles float in visible shafts of light, suspended above the polished metal bases. The midsummer brightness falls through the glass, painting the shrine in shifting hues of amber, violet, and teal. Each candle face mirrors its neighbors, creating an endless geometric pattern that stretches toward the center. The light bounces gently off the smooth, cool surfaces, showing the stillness of the space. One reflection of a stained glass pane rests on the lowest candle base.
