The raking angle reveals thousands of tiny barbules interlocking like a zipper, their translucent edges catching the sun. Fine dust particles float in the air, suspended in the shafts of light that pierce the pod's rough, fibrous interior. The pod's split edges are jagged and dry, against the delicate, hair-like filaments of the feather resting against the seed material.
