Lichen Fruiting Body on Weathered Granite in Dawn Shadow

Tiny, pale orange spheres cluster tightly against the rough, gray surface of a granite boulder. The stone texture is deeply pitted and cracked, revealing layers of erosion typical of the Nigerian landscape near Asaba. Soft morning light strikes the upper edges of the lichens, creating a sharp, glowing rim that separates the delicate fruiting bodies from the deep shadow covering the rock face. A faint, shimmering heat haze distorts the background slightly, suggesting the dry season's rising warmth. The composition sits low, looking directly at the microscopic structures as they rest on the mineral grain. one drop of morning dew rests on the lower rim of the largest lichen sphere, catching the faint light.
