Glittering Mica Flakes in Granite Slab

Sharp north-window sidelight cuts across a rough granite slab, illuminating individual mica flakes that catch the late-afternoon sun. The mineral shards sparkle with metallic silver and pale gold against the stone's deep gray and brown matrix. In the immediate background, a strip of weathered bark covered in patches of green and gray lichen provides a textured, organic contrast to the mineral surface. The light creates bright highlights on the angular edges of the mica while warm shadows settle into the crevices of the rock. Negative space surrounds the central cluster of glittering crystals, placing them against the coarse texture of the surrounding stone and bark. A tiny shard of mica rests at the very edge of the frame.
