Late Summer Cloudburst Over Riyadh Desert Canyon
by Elias Harvey
Brilliant tropical sunlight pierces through a towering, dark cumulonimbus cloud hovering directly above the jagged ridges of a desert canyon near Riyadh. The sky shifts from deep charcoal to violent violet as rain begins to fall in thick, diagonal sheets, whipped by fierce winds that blur the distant rock formations. Below, the dry, ochre canyon floor transforms instantly into a churning river of muddy brown water, rushing violently between steep sandstone walls. The water's surface reflects the storm's intensity, creating a chaotic texture of white foam and dark eddies. Dust clouds rise in swirling columns from the canyon floor, caught in the downwind gusts. The entire landscape is rendered in high contrast, with the dark silhouette of the rock face standing stark against the blinding, wet light of the falling rain.
