Kashmir Sheep Shearing at Dawn During Monsoon Shower

Low sunlight breaks through the horizon haze, casting a pale glow over a wet shearing board scattered with fresh wool curls. Raindrops bead on the dark, damp surface of the board and glisten on the tagged sheep standing nearby. A wooden windbreak lines the background, shielding the area from the monsoon shower. The water trough reflects the gray sky, its surface rippling with falling rain. Mud rests on the sheep's hooves, and the wool fibers appear heavy and matted from the moisture. Leading lines formed by the board and trough draw toward the horizon where the sun struggles to pierce the mist. one drop of water slides down the edge of a wooden slat.
