Breeding Rams Near Sorting Gate Kashmir Evening

Thick-fleeced rams stand clustered beside a weathered metal sorting gate, their wool absorbing the fading blue light of dusk. Distant town glow paints the horizon in soft orange hues, against the cool mist clinging to the valley floor. Chalk numbers scrawled in white mark the rusted rail, standing out against the darkened metal. Layers of depth recede from the animals into the hazy pasture, where the turn of seasons leaves the grass muted and pale. The air hangs still and cool, visible as a thin veil over the ground. A faint reflection of the twilight settles on the wet surface of a nearby mineral pan.
