Godwit Flies Above Yukon Mist Line
A bar-tailed godwit stretches its wings across a wide panoramic view of the Yukon mudflat under the last light of an arctic summer. The bird's mottled brown and grey feathers catch the fading amber glow, casting a long, sharp shadow on the wet ground below. A thick, opaque white fog fills the lower third of the frame, resting against the mud with a knife-sharp horizontal edge that cuts abruptly across the landscape. Above this impossible boundary, the sky transitions from soft violet to deep indigo, devoid of clouds. The mudflat surface glistens with shallow pools reflecting the twilight sky, while the mist remains flat and solid, creating a distinct separation between the earth and the air. The bird flies just above this fog line, its silhouette clear against the darkening horizon.
