Glacier Tongue Calving Into Turquoise Water in along a wave-cut shoreline in Lapland

Glacier Tongue Calving Into Turquoise Water

by Rafael Buckley

Copper-toned light washes over a massive glacier tongue pressing into milky turquoise water along a wave-cut Lapland shoreline. Thick mist rests on the air, softening the distant ice face while orange low-angle rays illuminate the jagged surface textures. The glacier edge breaks sharply against the water, sending small fragments of white ice drifting in the current. The shoreline below features smooth, water-worn stones and dark sediment layers exposed by the receding tide. A low angle view emphasizes the sheer verticality of the ice wall rising from the sea. The water surface ripples gently around floating ice chunks, reflecting the dimming sky. A thin layer of frost lines the lower rock face near the waterline.
