Ghanaian Salt Flat Mirror Horizon Rainy Season
by Camilo Ward
Crystalline white salt crusts cover the valley floor, stretching endlessly toward a hazy horizon line where the earth meets a soft blue sky. The surface acts as a perfect mirror, reflecting the low-hanging sun and the faint clouds above in a seamless, shimmering expanse. Dark silhouettes of distant vegetation or small structures punctuate the bright white ground, creating a stark contrast against the intense backlighting. The wet sheen of the rainy season glistens under the fading light, showing the vast, flat geometry of the landscape. Shadows from the low sun stretch long and thin across the salt, at the base of the expansive view in a specific, quiet moment of twilight. The edge of the frame cuts through the salt, revealing a rough, textured border where the mineral deposit meets the darker, damp earth.
