Vibrant tropical light cuts through the thick fog hanging over the harbor mouth near Las Vegas, illuminating a Formula One car paused at a wet apex. Sea spray hangs in the air, coating the low-slung chassis and slick tires with a fine, glistening mist. The asphalt beneath the vehicle reflects the bright sky, against the gray fog that obscures the distant water. Autumn leaves, turned orange and brown, scatter across the dry shoulder of the track, untouched by the dampness of the road. The car's aerodynamic wings stand sharp against the soft haze, their carbon fiber surfaces catching the harsh sunlight. Water droplets rest on the rear diffuser, while the driver's helmet remains still, suggesting a moment of waiting. The edge of the track meets the rough, rocky shoreline where the ocean churns below.
