Bright midmorning light pierces the steady rain and fog hovering over a Japanese harbor mouth, illuminating a rally car navigating a sharp gravel bend. The vehicle kicks up a dense spray of wet stones and water, scattering droplets that catch the daylight against the muted gray backdrop of the sea. Peak autumn foliage in shades of crimson and gold lines the road edge, against the dark asphalt and slick gravel. Converging road lines draw toward the vanishing point where the fog thickens around the distant lighthouse. The car's tires grip the loose surface, sending pebbles flying in a chaotic arc that freezes the motion of the turn. One red taillight reflects off a puddle on the road surface.
