Broad midmorning skylight fills an indoor room in Maputo, bouncing off pale walls to illuminate a halved fig resting on a rough wooden surface. The interior reveals a dense network of tiny, pale seeds embedded in fleshy pink and green pulp. Dust particles float visibly within the shafts of light falling across the fruit. The background remains sharp and detailed, while the immediate foreground of the fruit's edge blurs softly. Early winter conditions leave the exposed flesh looking crisp and wet against the matte finish of the outer skin. A fine grain of dust settles on the cut edge of the fig, catching the light at the very front.
