Dawn Hog Yard Cornish Shade Wall Misters in near a windbreak and water trough in Cornwall

Dawn Hog Yard Cornish Shade Wall Misters

by Cindy McBride

Low morning light bleeds across a churned hog yard in late spring Cornwall, illuminating damp earth streaked with deep hoof prints. A weathered shade wall anchors the right side, its surface rough with age and grime. Above, metal nipple drinkers and cooling misters hang in precise rows, catching faint droplets of water that glisten against the pale sky. Straw and scattered feed litter the ground near the fence line, mixing with the dark, wet soil. The horizon glows with a soft haze where the sun first strikes, casting long, cool shadows from the windbreak and water trough in the distance. One muddy track cuts through the center, leading toward the trough.
