Dawn Light on Scottish Poultry Crates in along a muddy paddock fence in the Scottish Isles

Dawn Light on Scottish Poultry Crates

by Colleen Lamb

Muddy ground glistens under the pale orange glow of a rising sun that cuts through the horizon haze. Stacked plastic crates line the edge of a weathered wooden fence, their surfaces marked by years of use and damp. A faint mist hovers just above the pens, catching the low light and softening the edges of the crates. Late autumn leaves rest on the fence posts in muted browns and grays. The crates sit in a staggered arrangement following the rule of thirds, creating a rhythmic pattern against the gray sky. Steam rises slowly from the warm crates, blending into the cold morning air. at the edge is a single droplet of water sliding down the side of the nearest crate, tracing a path through the grime.
