Cypress Trees Under Aqueduct Tower Twilight Scotland in beside a storm surge barrier in Scotland

Cypress Trees Under Aqueduct Tower Twilight Scotland

by Todd Foley

Deep indigo twilight settles over a Scottish storm surge barrier where a massive concrete aqueduct siphon tower rises above a dense row of cypress trees. The structures stand in deep shadow, defined only by sharp rim light tracing their edges against the darkening sky. Humid air hangs heavy, blurring the distant horizon while wet surfaces reflect the faint ambient glow. The cypress trunks align in perfect symmetry, their dark, textured bark against the smooth, engineered curves of the concrete. Vertical lines of the tower intersect the vertical rhythm of the trees, creating a rigid, geometric pattern. one drop of water rests on the lower edge of the concrete flange, catching the last light before the shadows fully consume it.
