Cyclist Racing Hairpin Turn Under Night Floodlights
by Beverly Lee
Brilliant stadium floodlights cut through the deepest night sky, illuminating a cyclist leaning sharply into a hairpin turn on a Milwaukee mountain path. The rider wears dark gear, body angled aggressively against the asphalt as they descend at high speed. Early autumn fog pools thick and white in the low valleys below the road, swallowing the ground features. In the background, a massive full-grown elephant stands calmly atop a distant rooftop, its gray skin catching the harsh artificial glare. The animal's shadow stretches long and straight across the building's flat surface, matching the direction of the cyclist's shadow. The road curves tightly ahead, bordered by safety barriers that reflect the intense white light. The elephant's ears flap slightly, creating a visible ripple in the air above its head, while the cyclist's helmet reflects the floodlights like a polished mirror.
