The cool season air is suggested by the heavy wool coats and thick scarves worn by the participants, against the smooth, cool concrete floor beneath their feet. Dust motes hang motionless in the broad beam of light, illuminating the formal expressions on the faces of the individuals. Behind them, heavy overcast skies outside the window turn the light into a soft, uniform gray that eliminates harsh shadows. The room holds a quiet, institutional gravity, defined by the rigid alignment of the line and the stark white walls.
