Cotton Bales Stacked in Holon Mill Hall in inside a packing hall with stainless conveyors in Holon

Cotton Bales Stacked in Holon Mill Hall

by Jimmie Hendrix

Stainless steel conveyors cut through the dim packing hall, their surfaces catching the sharp glow of overhead security lights. The wet concrete floor mirrors these bright streaks, creating a slick, reflective path that stretches toward the back wall. Massive bales of raw cotton rise in uneven columns, stacked nearly to the high ceiling and filling the upper thirds of the space. The cool season air settles on the pale, fibrous texture of the cotton, against the cold, hard metal of the machinery. Shadows pool in the deep corners where the light fails to reach, showing the sheer volume of material stored here before dawn. One steel beam runs diagonally across the upper right, anchoring the heavy stacks against the dark background.
