Cirque Lake British Columbia Evening Shore in along a wave-cut shoreline in British Columbia

Cirque Lake British Columbia Evening Shore

by Paige Lambert

Honeyed evening light spills across the water of a mountain cirque lake, reflecting the soft glow of a low horizon. The foreground features a wave-cut shoreline where smooth, rounded stones meet the glassy surface, their textures softened by the early spring dampness. Layers of depth recede from the immediate water edge toward distant ridges wrapped in low-hanging clouds. The air appears still, yet the solitude is carved by the wind into the bare branches of scattered conifers lining the bowl. Mist rests on the water, blurring the line between the lake and the shadowed slopes above. A final ripple near the shore catches the fading light, creating a sharp line of gold against the dark, wet pebbles.
