Operating Grinder in Naples

Under the amber haze of a Naples streetlight, a cramped corner shop spills onto the pavement, its glass window fogged with condensation and cluttered with stacked plastic crates. Inside, a vendor in a stained apron leans over a counter, his hands busy around a metal coffee grinder, the only source of sharp white light in the dim room. Outside, a coiled garden hose snakes across the wet cobblestones, reflecting the neon sign of a neighboring bar. A dusty book press sits abandoned on a lower shelf, half-hidden by shadows, while a single plant pot rests precariously on the windowsill, its leaves brushing the glass.
